Canal Cruise Amsterdam Light Festival
PLEASE NOTE: the information on this page refers to the now closed 12th edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival. The 13th edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival is scheduled from November 28, 2024 to January 19, 2025. More information will follow.
Experience an unforgettable experience during the 12th edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival with a cruise via Mokumboot. It doesn’t matter if you are young or old, because this event is for everyone. During this special tour you will be taken past the beautiful light artworks that transform the city into a magical spectacle every year.
Timetable and departure times
From November 30, 2023 to January 21, 2024 you can admire the light artworks in Amsterdam every day:
- Monday to Sunday: Enjoy the beautiful light show from the water between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
The cruises depart every 90 minutes and our last boat leaves at 8:30 PM.
Please note that on certain dates the lights will be on at different times:
- December 8: there is a blockage on the Oosterdok (between Nemo and Marineterrein) between 6:00 PM and 7:15 PM, due to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Nemo Science Museum.
- Christmas holidays (December 23 to January 6): the lights are on until 11:00 PM every day.
- New Year’s Eve (December 31): all lights remain off.
Discover the festival from the water
With the tour boat, Begijnhof, from Mokumboot you benefit from the best view of all the beautiful installations. During the 75-minute cruise you will enjoy a drink arranged by us. Do you want to come with a larger group? Then it is good to know that our luxury sloop can accommodate up to 35 people. Don’t forget to dress warmly, because it can be quite chilly on the water. Due to the popularity of this event, we recommend purchasing tickets online in advance.
LOADING… Revealing Art, AI and Tech
The Amsterdam Light Festival is an annual event that takes place during the winter months in Amsterdam. During this period, the canals of Amsterdam are illuminated by unique light artworks created by both national and international light artists. This year, 24 beautiful light artworks can be admired along the canals, representing the theme “LOADING… Revealing Art, AI and Tech”. The festival focuses on the latest developments in technology and artificial intelligence, offering visitors an enchanting experience.
